For consistent, secure food production, crops must be protected from infestations. However, the usage of pesticides and the applications of agricultural biotechnology worry many consumers. Applications that might be useful may not be used if there is a lack of consumer adoption. In order to safeguard crops, this study investigates consumer acceptance of pesticide use in conventional, organic, and agri-biotech applications. The German-speaking region of Switzerland's participants took part in an online between-subject experiment. According to the findings, consumers were most receptive to gene exchanges as a kind of protection if the gene originated from a wild variation of the same species as the cultivated plant. Consumer acceptability of pesticide use and agri-biotech applications is influenced by chemophobia as well as the value of naturalness in food.
