Retinal vascular eye disease, particularly in the context of diabetes, is a leading cause of vision loss and blindness worldwide. Extensive research has been conducted to understand the underlying mechanisms, improve early detection, and develop innovative treatments for this condition. This abstract provides a concise overview of recent advancements in the field of retinal vascular eye disease and diabetes. Researchers have made progress in unraveling the pathogenesis, identifying chronic hyperglycemia and associated metabolic abnormalities as key factors leading to oxidative stress, inflammation, and vascular dysfunction within the retinal microvasculature. Novel screening techniques, including non-invasive imaging modalities like optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus photography, enable early detection of retinal changes. Pharmacological interventions, such as anti- VEGF agents, have shown promise in preventing or delaying disease progression.
